Adding Zotero functionality to Chrome is straightforward and involves installing the Zotero Connector extension. This allows you to save web pages as citations directly to your Zotero library with a single click.
Installing the Zotero Connector
If you don't see the Zotero Connector in your list of Chrome extensions, or if you need to reinstall it, follow these simple steps:
- Go to the Zotero Download Page: Open your Chrome browser and navigate to the official Zotero download page at zotero.org/download.
- Locate the Chrome Connector: On the right side of the page, you will see an option labeled "Install Chrome Connector." Click on this button.
- Add to Chrome: You will be redirected to the Chrome Web Store page for the Zotero Connector. Click the "Add to Chrome" button.
- Confirm Pop-ups: A pop-up window will appear asking for confirmation to add the extension. Click "Add extension" to proceed.
- Pin the Icon: After installation, it's recommended to pin the Zotero icon to your Chrome toolbar for easy access. This typically involves clicking the puzzle piece icon (Extensions) in your toolbar and then clicking the pin icon next to "Zotero Connector."
Once the Zotero Connector is installed and pinned, you will see its icon (usually a small paper icon or an "S" for "Save to Zotero") in your Chrome toolbar. Clicking this icon while browsing will allow you to save articles, web pages, and other resources directly into your Zotero library.
